Budget Page

CostCertified has a powerful budget page that allows you to track your costs and profits throughout each project. This budget sheet can also be exported to be used with other accounting softwares for bookkeeping purposes.

  1. Open an estimate and go to the Budget tab on the left side of the screen.

  2. This will open the budget sheet with everything grouped together.

    1. NOTE: By default, the budget will be sorted by “Construction stage.” You can change this by clicking the dropdown in the top left corner and selecting vendor or trade group.

  3. Once inside the budget, you can expand each category to look at each line item individually. In the example below, I have clicked the arrow to the left of “Backsplash tile, wall tile” to see everything that is included in that group.

  4. Each line of the budget will show the details of that item. You can adjust which columns you would like to see by clicking the gear icon in the top right corner and toggling the various columns on and off.

  5. As you work through the project, you can track your expenses by entering the “actual cost” for each line item or group. If something comes in over budget, it will turn the box red. If it comes in under budget, it will turn green.

  6. You can also edit item details by clicking the three dots to the right of the name and editing the item like you normally would.

  7. Once you have the columns and details set to your preference, you can export the budget into a xlsx file. This file can be imported into outside accounting softwares for bookkeeping purposes.
